Frustration

It has been sometime since our last blog post on the MCP site. We reached somewhat of an impasse a few weeks ago with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council (MRSC) Planning Department and the Engineering Department.

In February our application for a Change of Use permit was sent to all 16 residents of Deep Lead Lane for comment and input. Objections were lodged by 10 of the 16 residents. The main objection was the fact that Deep Lead lane is an unmade road and concern was raised about the amount of dust caused by the extra traffic. The Traffic Impact Report, submitted with our application, stated that the small increase in extra traffic would have minimal impact on the road and surrounding area. The Engineering Department are finally making a site visit this week to determine what corrective action they may deem necessary.

The other point of major concern is to do with the amount of water MCP might pump up from the subterranean aquifers. As we are planning to sink a deep bore to 75 metres plus, this should not be a problem. However, we have been asked to supply further professional opinion on this point.

Some questions have been raised regarding the septic waste system and the possibility of needing a secondary leach field. Again, further professional opinion is required.

As no one seems to have any sense of urgency in replying to requests for extra information required by both Planning and Engineering, this is proving to be a frustratingly slow process.

You guys are making ripples. It may be slow, however you are realising a dream! Keep going, life wasn’t meant to be smooth sailing and each obstacle will make the final result be that much sweeter! Looking forward to walking through the meadow
