The Evolving First Project

As we move forward with our first project, our plans continue to evolve in response to the changing conditions around us. While the Kyneton area is currently experiencing a dry spell, regions further north are facing significant flooding—highlighting the need to be prepared for both extremes.

With that in mind, we’re shifting our focus to prioritise drainage across the property. Creating a landscape that can withstand both heavy rainfall and dry conditions is essential for the long-term success of our site. We’re expecting to meet with our earthmoving contractor in the coming week to explore the best options for managing water flow and protecting the land.

Despite these adjustments, we’re still aiming to begin planting our woodland area in June or July. With a bit of luck, the rain will arrive just in time to support our young trees. We’ll share more details about the tree planting project in an upcoming blog post.

In other exciting news, Mark’s Country Place is now the proud owner of a shipping container! Delivered today, this new addition will be invaluable for storing tools, equipment, and supplies as we move through the early stages of development.

Beautiful autumn day showing how dry it is. Mulch pile grows!

Very cool! It is interesting to hear of your shift in focus - I pray it is a easy job to add drainage.

We are hoping that some swales across the property will be adequate, our meeting with the earthmoving contractor will clarify the solution.
