As winter draws to a close, we’re excited to welcome the first day of spring tomorrow (1st September is the start of spring here in Australia) here at Mark’s Country Place. Across the Kyneton region, bright yellow daffodils are already in bloom, reminding us of the joy and colour that this new season brings. In time, we look forward to adding our own bursts of seasonal colour to the gardens at Mark’s Country Place, creating a vibrant and welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.
The final month of winter has been kind to us in terms of rainfall, with a generous 98mm (just under 4 inches) recorded. This steady rain has completely filled our newly created wetland and billabong—so much so that it’s now overflowing! When the wetland was first sculpted in June, we never imagined it would reach capacity so quickly, and it has been wonderful to watch this habitat come to life.
At the moment, the ground is still too wet to begin major work, but this pause gives the land time to settle. As the weather warms and conditions improve, we look forward to resuming planting projects, particularly native grasses and wetland plants, which will strengthen biodiversity and support local wildlife.
Spring promises to be a busy and exciting season at Mark’s Country Place. With the garden gradually taking shape, each step brings us closer to realising our vision of a fully inclusive, accessible space that nurtures community, connection, and wellbeing.

Wow! So green!!! It looks wonderful! looking forward to the future developments!
